PaD #9: big

this gentle giant, the Tian Tan Buddha can be found at the Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island in Hong Kong, where I photographed him in 1994.  He was the world's tallest outdoor bronze seated Buddha prior to 2007, and is still one of the largest Buddhas in China. yes, kids, that is a scan of an actual photograph that I shot with real film, and developed myself in this antiquated place called a 'darkroom'... all kidding aside, you can't really understand the scale of this sculpture (which houses a museum inside) unless you click on it and take a stare at the teeny tiny humans in the bottom left of the photo - like bugs, right?! I just couldn't think of anything 'big' in my everyday life to post, so I hope any and all readers enjoy the Buddha!

I do so love to hear from you - please let me know that you came to visit (sorry about the word verification, but I've been getting too much spam)!
